My Greatest Fear

I in no wise doubt this statement which in the Bible has been declared three hundred and sixty-five times,
Deliberately to have one for each day,
That “Do not be afraid!”
But there are a few things that scare me,
I’m afraid of undecided lifestyle,
Casting my lot with the saints and yet indifferent about occupying a space at the seat of the scornful,
I’m afraid of giving mixed signals,
Being seen by a damsel as a prospective suitor, yet my current manifesto is being shaped for a different dime altogether,
I’m afraid of being a confusing teacher,
Recommending to everyone the bread of life while having on my table dead bread!
I’m afraid of wasting opportunities,
Refusing to do what I can do today in the hope that I will be granted another chance tomorrow,
I’m afraid of using capricious methods,
Acquiring what I want by sacrificing others or taking by clenched fists that which others deserve,
I’m afraid of living a lie,
Earning the respect of human beings while the unmistakable pen of the recording angel numbers me with rebels and blasphemous,
I’m afraid of forgetfulness,
Forgetting how the Lord has been faithful to me in the past till I start murmuring and complaining about things that I can’t explain,
Or worse still, forgetting that I am a soldier of the Cross, a follower of the lamb!
But my greatest fear,
Is to meet face to face with God when I still have a good taste for the forbidden fruits,
My greatest fear is facing the lamb of God when he has stopped the mediatorial work, yet I have not acquired the long white robe,
Of all the meetings I dread, none is like being a sinner in the hands of an angry and just God!
God’s justice to the righteous means eternal life, but to sinners it is eternal damnation!

  1. No room for being afraid. A promise is given in Joshua ; for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. But this is dependent on the previous verse Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Hence be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed. True Love cast away fear.
