It’s been a heated season for several reasons. The Covid-19 Pandemic has marauded the third planet and kept the World hostage, pushing most economies to a doom loop. This time round it was not about The Democratic Republic of Congo or Sierra Leone. It was not about some African country, Latin America or the ever struggling Asian countries. The World’s big brother—The United States of America, and the world’s most affluent Nations for some reason faced it more than the usual whistle blowers. At this point in the World’s history, one of the most difficult things was to be the President of the United States, and more so, to be one as a Donald Trump.
The United States of America, founded in the past millennium, has been an asylum of peace to the world. Those escaping papal anathema, the stake and gibbet, those fighting for the liberty of conscience and freedom to Worship God in harmony with sound doctrine, found in the US, a haven of peace. The declaration of independence, written by the true sons of America—the likes of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman and Robert R.
Livingston—seemed to be from the Hands of God.
Maybe Smith puts it better:
“They had the sagacity to determine the right, and the courage to maintain it. While others were wavering, they were
firm ; they could neither be courted, intimidated nor bribed ; the wealth of the Indies would have been to them as dust.
No royal standard could have induced them to forsake the standard of liberty. In the darkest hour a halo of glory surrounded them—a secret self-sustaining influence, which dispelled all gloom. They gathered from the never changing laws of human nature, that mankind, without regard to race, condition, country, clime or color, desired and deserved everywhere to be free. Thus, ” life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness ” are enunciated in the Declaration of Independence as the inherent rights of man ; ” and to secure these rights governments are instituted among men, deriving their just power from the consent of the governed.”…
“They had no model in Grecian or Roman history to build from ; but took as their guide the desire of all men to be free. Liberty was the chief corner-stone ; they claimed it as a gift from the Almighty, coupled with humanity, equality
and justice.” With such a natural, stable, and solid foundation, it shadowed forth the noblest effort of human wisdom.” – John Smith Dye, “The Adder’s Den”. P. 10,11
This office has been held by some great and noble species of mankind. Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, Kennedy, Barack Obama before Don got the baton. A no nonsense man, open and bold about his opinions, he seemed destined to fulfill his narrative of, “Let’s Make America great again”. But four years later the country is sinking to more doom and it seems other contestants for the World’s big brother position like China are soon having their dream come true.
Trump, naturally oozing the American pride, which to some is a delusion of grandeur, has had his chance to do what he could do. He is one of the few human beings who seems to care less about political correctness. He has not been known to use euphemisms but he is a man of black and white, a quality that I find hard to ignore. Those he didn’t like may not wait to interpret the implied bearing of his statements. He had it clear on His speeches. If judged by speech, then we have a lot of nice people in the world. Is this true? The statistics however betrays the assumption. Trump seemed to have been confronted with two options: To be what is expected of the US president or to remain a ‘Donald Trump’ and he decided to maintain the latter. We need such a firmness of character that we can maintain our individuality. We should get to a stable point of our character that no position changes us. This is the goal of life, we must be accomplished at the end of struggle. In the spiritual world, we call this, settling into truth both morally and intellectually that we cannot be moved. Firmness of character is an urgent need of the world and we cannot be too careful or too determined in our pursuing it.
The US elections, therefore, have been of immense importance to the whole world. The vulnerable groups, the segregated factions all were keen on their fate, depending on the outcome of the US presidential election. After the results have been out, it seems time to laugh at the Don. Meme lords, designers of graffiti and GIFs, have been unmerciful to the big man and sometimes I wonder if he equally sees these jokes. Well, I may not have many opinions because I care less who holds the office, but I believe every country needs to be governed by the rule of law. This is my father’s World and I know I’m not at the mercy of some regime, for it cannot last forever however determined it may be. At the pinnacle of the powers that be, I know there is a God who changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: KJV Daniel 2:21.
“In the word of God only is this clearly set forth. Here it is shown that the strength of nations, as of individuals, is not found in the opportunities or facilities that appear to make them invincible; it is not found in their boasted greatness. It is measured by the fidelity with which they fulfill God’s purpose”.-Education p. 175
