THE LORD’S PRAYER

HE PRAYED FOR YOU.

To many of us when we hear the term, “The Lord’s Prayer” we are more often than not drawn to the phrase, “Our Father who art in Heaven”. Christ taught His disciples how to Pray, but that is not the Lord’s Prayer. He was giving a model prayer that should guide us as we pray. I think it’s necessary that we know how to Pray aright. For most of us, if all our prayers could have been answered according to our will we  would be dead.

In the future life the mysteries that here have annoyed and disappointed us will be made plain. We shall see that our seemingly unanswered prayers and disappointed hopes have been among our greatest blessings.

So What is the Lord’s Prayer?

It’s actually a prayer. I think nothing is more reassuring than to realise that our LORD Jesus Christ actually prayed for us. After doing His assignment of revealing God both to man and to angels—He being God’s thought made audible—Christ prayed for His disciples. This prayer is penned down by Apostle John in the seventeenth chapter of the Gospel as he (John) was inspired. Important aspects of this prayer which you need to hear could be:

The Lord’s Prayer was for Specific Group.

KJV John 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

The Lord’s prayer was Specifically for His disciples and no one else. Either first hand or those who will believe His testimony all through the time to the end of the World. While He had come to save the World, not everyone was, Is and will be willing to crown Him LORD of LORDs and KING of KINGS. To those who accepted Him, who are accepting and who will accept Him, He made this prayer. If you are not willing to do things God’s way, then you should stop praying. You cannot claim this prayer when somebody else other than JESUS Christ is the LORD of your life. Who’s the LORD of your life? ————

The Lord’s Prayed  for Preservation in the World.

KJV John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Looking ahead into the future Christ saw with the prophetic Lens the terrible possibilities that awaits His followers. The spirit of Persecution, which is one of the methods employed by the devil, was lying in wait for those who would stay true to God. Those who say death before dishonor, who ask themselves, “How can I do this and Sin against God?” The troubles times have been there and will always be there, and worse still, increases in intensity as the end draws near. History informs us of the Holocaust Massacre, the religious anathema, the Stake and the guillotine. No time do people persecute with passion than when they do it from a religious conviction.  History has preserved it and it will be repeated in the final Crisis. Christ didn’t pray that we be removed from all these, but that God can Preserve us in the Midst of all these. Are you worried about the Pandemic or economic Crises? The question is who is your LORD? For those who are in the LORD while are conquerors for Christ has won the battle.

The LORD Prayed for sanctification by truth.

KJV John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

The righteousness by which we are justified is imputed; the righteousness by which we are sanctified is imparted. The first is our title to heaven, the second is our fitness for heaven. Without being sanctified we couldn’t be fit for Heaven. We must acquire fitness now. Knowing that there will be counterfeits, He prayed that we be sanctified in the GOD’s appointed way. This is possible only in truth. Not all who are religious are walking in truth.  To love truth, you must be Spiritual. Truth is based on the Bible, not tradition not age not creed not wealth. Do you love truth or you love your doctrine and Church?

The LORD Prayed for Unity

KJV John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

The greatest argument in favour of the Gospel is a loving and lovable Christian. The safest place for any Christian is the company of other like-minded Christians. God prayed that we may love one another and be united, for in this the World will believe our Testimony that we are one with Him. Those who claim to be religious are not united. Worldlings look on, and jeeringly exclaim, “Behold how these Christians hate one another! If this is religion, we do not want it.” And they look upon themselves and their irreligious characters with great satisfaction. Thus they are confirmed in their impenitence, and Satan exults at his success. We must show the World our Unity in Christ.

This is the LORD’s prayer . I’m happy that He thought about me. I can smile at the storm.

  2. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful message it’s so encouraging.
And we should neither fear the pandemic nor the persecution. Sister Ellen White informs us in book the Great controversy chapter. 31 that “A guardian angel is appointed to every follower of Christ. These Heavenly watchers shield the righteous from the power of the wicked one.
