Who Created the Devil?
Concerning the existence of evil in the World, many people have a lot of opinions to put across. A lot of people associate evil with the devil. But there are some who believe that the issues about the existence of the devil is at most a fairy tale. I think the idea that the devil doesn’t exist could be the greatest favour anyone can give the devil. He wreaks havoc in your life, and because you don’t believe he exists, you blame someone else. So can we be sure that the devil exists in the first place? You may need to see in the natural world. The anomalies that tend to bring about destruction is an evidence of a destroyer . Christ told the Pharisees, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”John 8:44
In another instance He said, “And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven” Luke 10:18
Christ being the way, TRUTH, and life, can be trusted on what He has to say about the devil. So knowing his activities, our observations resonate with scriptural instruction of his activities.
God Created Lucifer; a Mighty Angel.
Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Ezekiel 28:12-15
Even in the creation of Lucifer, divine perfection is embodied. God made a perfect being. Not an angel of mean stature but a covering cherub. Covering what? The law of God. He was perfect and in harmony with God’s will. In the same way God created us as the Psalmist says, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Psalms 139” Lucifer when he was made, could equally testify of the same. But like many of us, we have sought many devices. God made us upright, but today I can imagine he is wondering about our amendments and adjustments. With metals in the tongue, nose and unfathomable parts of the body, God must be wondering what is wrong with people He created to look like Him. Could God be worried about you? I think one of the greatest evils of the twenty-first century is departing from God’s appointed way. It seems we are desperate to wipe out any trace of God likeness from among us. All these is done under the pretext of exposure and modernism. While Darwinians present humanity to be evolving to a more superior level, I’m sorry to painfully admit the opposite. I think there has been depreciation amidst the 5G+ technology we are moving to.
Who Then Created the Devil?
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Ezekiel 28:15-17
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:12-14
Lucifer created the devil, not by the verb of creating but by a decision. He exercised his liberty of conscience. Lucifer conceived a thought never seen before. Desire for a position like unto that of God. The desire to be like God made Lucifer the devil. The law of love being the foundation of the government of God, the happiness of all intelligent beings depends upon their perfect accord with its great principles of righteousness. God desires from all His creatures the service of love—service that springs from an appreciation of His character. He takes no pleasure in a forced obedience; and to all He grants freedom of will, that they may render Him voluntary service. Lucifer like all other angels had a freedom of choice and in him, this was exercised against God. In great mercy, according to His divine character, God bore long with Lucifer. The spirit of discontent and disaffection had never before been known in heaven. It was a new element, strange, mysterious, unaccountable. Lucifer himself had not at first been acquainted with the real nature of his feelings; for a time he had feared to express the workings and imaginings of his mind; yet he did not dismiss them. He did not see whether he was drifting. But such efforts as infinite love and wisdom only could devise, were made to convince him of his error. His disaffection was proved to be without cause, and he was made to see what would be the result of persisting in revolt. Lucifer was convinced that he was in the wrong. He saw that “the Lord is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works” (Psalm 145:17); that the divine statutes are just, and that he ought to acknowledge them as such before all heaven. Had he done this, he might have saved himself and many angels. He had not at that time fully cast off his allegiance to God. Though he had left his position as covering cherub, yet if he had been willing to return to God, acknowledging the Creator’s wisdom, and satisfied to fill the place appointed him in God’s great plan, he would have been reinstated in his office. The time had come for a final decision; he must fully yield to the divine sovereignty or place himself in open rebellion. He nearly reached the decision to return, but pride forbade him. It was too great a sacrifice for one who had been so highly honored to confess that he had been in error, that his imaginings were false, and to yield to the authority which he had been working to prove unjust. Misleading the angels who had bought his false idea that they had gone beyond forgiveness, they committed themselves to his service. There is nothing too much to attract God’s forgiveness. God is willing to forgive all sins that we are willing to repent of. The only sin that you will not be forgiven of is that which you are not willing to repent and forsake. Is there such a sin in your life?
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:7-9
When his accusation could not be accepted, Lucifer was determined to gain by force what he failed to secure by artifice. Now this was a dangerous attempt. No angel could successfully oppose the law of God, which was as sacred as Himself. Still the loyal angels urged him and his sympathizers to submit to God; and they set before them the inevitable result should they refuse: He who had created them could overthrow their power and signally punish their rebellious daring. But it ended in Him being thrown out of Heaven. This could be a warning to those who are trampling upon God’s law today. We would do well to be well aware that God also has untouchables, and His Law is at the top of that list.
“Sacrilegious minds and hearts have thought they were mighty enough to change the times and laws of Jehovah; but, safe in the archives of heaven, in the ark of God, are the original commandments, written upon the two tables of stone. No potentate of earth has power to draw forth those tables from their sacred hiding place beneath the mercy seat”.-Maranatha 286.4
Any defiance against God is a recipe for Disaster. God is immortal and when we attempt to destroy Him(by trampling on His law, which is the transcript of His Character) the blow will turn ricocheting towards us. Thus Lucifer lost his position and became the archenemy of all truth and righteousness.
Why was the Devil not Destroyed?
God could employ only such means as were consistent with truth and righteousness. Satan could use what God could not—flattery and deceit. He had sought to falsify the word of God and had misrepresented His plan of government, claiming that God was not just in imposing laws upon the angels; that in requiring submission and obedience from His creatures, He was seeking merely the exaltation of Himself. It was therefore necessary to demonstrate before the inhabitants of heaven, and of all the worlds, that God’s government is just, His law perfect. Satan had made it appear that he himself was seeking to promote the good of the universe. The true character of the usurper and his real object must be understood by all. He must have time to manifest himself by his wicked works. Even when he was cast out of heaven, Infinite Wisdom did not destroy Satan. Since only the service of love can be acceptable to God, the allegiance of His creatures must rest upon a conviction of His justice and benevolence. The inhabitants of heaven and of the worlds, being unprepared to comprehend the nature or consequences of sin, could not then have seen the justice of God in the destruction of Satan. Had he been immediately blotted out of existence, some would have served God from fear rather than from love. The influence of the deceiver would not have been fully destroyed, nor would the spirit of rebellion have been utterly eradicated. For the good of the entire universe through ceaseless ages, he must more fully develop his principles, that his charges against the divine government might be seen in their true light by all created beings, and that the justice and mercy of God and the immutability of His law might be forever placed beyond all question. In fact it was not until the death of Christ on Calvary that the unfallen angels settled into truth that the devil is a murderer and a usurper of power. And at the time when the conflict ages will come to an end even the devil will bow and recognise God’s justice. You can learn to bow now or wait on the day of final recording when all must bow.
Against every evildoer God’s law utters condemnation. He may disregard that voice, he may seek to drown its warning, but in vain. It follows him. It makes itself heard. It destroys his peace. If unheeded, it pursues him to the grave. It bears witness against him at the judgment. A quenchless fire, it consumes at last soul and body. -Education 144.5
